Amici e nemici di WrestlingWorld è già passato un mese dal numero introduttivo di questo editoriale, quindi rieccoci ancora una volta a parlare di wrestling europeo.

In questo ultimo mese, nel vecchio continente, abbiamo assistito a un importante cambio di titolo per quanto riguarda il panorama del wrestling britannico e la IPW:UK. Prima di commentare questa vittoria, però, è bene andare indietro nel tempo di qualche mese.

IWZ Tour 09.09.06: nello sfortunato tour della International Wrestling Zone, Andy Simmonz subisce un grave infortunio ad una caviglia in una contesa che lo vedeva opposto a Steve Douglas.

Andy Simmonz Retiring? L'infortunio pare più grave di quanto si ipotizasse e nei forum inglesi iniziano a circolare voci su un possibile ritiro del wrestler. Ad alimentare questi rumours da web, ci pensa lo stesso Simmonz, che sul suo blog di MySpace interviene così:

“For those of you who don't know I was doing a 3 day tour of Italy when on the first night I was doing an extra match as a favour to the promoter and I picked up a certain German wrestler and he came down full force on my thigh causing my leg to buckle and my ankle to break. I knew immediately that the bone was broken as I had heard it snap.
Pretty quickly I was taken to an Italian hospital and X Rayed after waiting for 3 hours, but not before watching all the Italian patients go in before me. Are the English really that hated or are the Italian really that ignorant? I was also sent away from the hospital with no crutches and with no painkillers. I got the first flight home I could which I had to pay for as the promoter flat out refused. I guess he expected me to hobble around Italy for a further 2 days with no crutches. Prick.
When I got home, I had very succesful surgery and the Doctors told me I'd be out for 3-6 months which I could deal with and was looking forward to coming back and abusing all you great fans all over again .
Unforunately though the healing process has not been good and the bone has re-healed in a bad positon and I'm looking at another surgery to rectify it and a long, long time out of wrestling.
I am writing this mainly as I'm not sure yet whether I'll be coming back to wrestling, I've done nearly everything I'd have liked to have done in wrestling plus a lot more. When I first started my training did I ever think I'll go abroad on more than 12 different occasions, wrestle for WWE at Wembley Arena, wrestle the finest British wrestlers around and most importantly make some truly great friends.
If this is really the end of my 6 year stint in wrestling, I wanna thank everyone who I worked for, everyone that I wrestled and everone I can now call a freind. Sorry that its brief, but maybe I'll explain my descion more of my decision soon.

Per i non avvezzi alla lingua inglese, Simmonz critica brevemente le cure ricevute in Italia e conferma le voci che lo davano alle prese con un grave infortunio. Il wrestler inglese annuncia anche che probabilmente sarà costretto al ritiro a soli 22 anni, rinunciando al roseo futuro che si stava costruendo in questo business. 

In seguito a queste dichiarazioni scoppia il malumore tra i fan inglesi, che rischiano di perdere improvvisamente un grande punto di riferimento per il futuro del panorama europeo, ma questo è solo l'inizio.

Su The Wrestling Channel viene trasmesso un intero show dedicato a Andy Simmonz, riguardante tutta la sua carriera in IPW:UK, i momenti di gloria, le sconfitte, fino ad arrivare alla decisione di ritirarsi.

IPW: UK Extreme Measures 3 (22.10.06) è passata solo una settimana dalla puntata speciale della IPW:UK dedicata a Andy Simmonz, quando poco prima del Main Event il wrestler inglese sale sul ring per interrompere il campione in carica della federazione, Martin Stone. Immediata la sorpresa degli appassionati, Simmonz infatti è salito sul quadrato per utilizzare la title shot guadagnata a giugno, sfidando Stone in un Falls Count Anywhere Match!

Simmonz conquista il titolo dopo una grande battaglia e per tutto il wrestling europeo, oltre la gioia di aver ritrovato un grande wrestler dopo un serio infortunio, c'è la consapevolezza di aver costruito un angle valido, e di essere riusciti a utilizzare internet come vero mezzo di promozione per il wrestling, mantenendo comunque viva la suspance e l'attesa per lo spettacolo.

Riguardo a Andy Simmonz, per lui si prospetta invece una dura lotta con Martin Stone che, dopo un valido regno come campione, reclamerà quasi sicuramente un re-match.

Altre news dall'Europa: Claudio Castagnoli verso la WWE, PAC in WSX è ormai ufficiale l'approdo di “The man that gravity forgot” PAC nella federazione di MTV, la Wrestling Society X. Il wrestler inglese, indubbiamente la grande rivelazione europea di questo 2006, lotterà con l'identità di Steve Lydon, ispirandosi al vocalist dei celeberrimi Sex Pistols. Probabile anche la formazione di un tag team con Teddy Hart, che si dovrebbe chiamare “The Filth & The Fury”.

Discorso differente per Claudio Castagnoli, il wrestler svizzero, ormai veterano della scena indipendente americana sta effettuando alcuni try-out per la Deep-South Wrestling. Molto probabile, quindi, il suo approdo nella WWE.

ITALIA

-La NWE ha ufficialmente diramato il suo roster per il prossimo tour invernale “Destiny is on the ring” che partirà il prossimo 25 novembre. Il parco lottatori sarà composto da: Black Pearl, Vampiro, Orlando Jordan, Matt Morgan, Heidenreich, Kishi, Romeo Roselli, Ultimo Dragon, Juventud Guerrera, The Flatliner, Little Leg, Domino, Hade Vansen, UK Pitbulls (Big Dave & Bulk), Fire Angel, Thunder Storm, Fabio Ferrari(Red Devil in ICW), Lisa Fury, Irene e Minx.

Sicuramente, oltre le consuete stelle ex WWE, in questo tour la Nu Wrestling Evolution darà ampio spazio alla scena europea, con tag team come gli UK Pitbulls, i South City Thrilla(Domino & Hade Vansen) e il duo comedy formato da Flatliner e Little Leg, che ha già fatto successo nella All Star Wrestling Promotion.

-La ICW, invece, sarà di scena il prossimo 1° novembre in quel di Vigevano (pochi minuti da Milano) per ICW Discoslam 2 e il 5 novembre a Vistarino(Pavia) per il classico Live'n'Kicking, le card degli eventi saranno annunciate a breve sul nostro forum.
